2018 Events

charlie bins skip bin hire warrandyte

Charlie Bins – 15km – 8.00am start

The Charlie Bins 15k Event is our premier event designed to challenge. The mixed road and trail course is scenic, taking in extended stretches of the Yarra River, Warrandyte State Park and beautiful sections of the bushy Warrandyte burbs.  As with all of our courses in 2018 it begins at the Warrandyte Clubhouse on Taroona Avenue, with the starting line in the Kindergarten carpark, and from there turns onto Taroona Ave. There are some minor hills, a short rough section, a beautiful riverside trail and a character filled rural suburban section to the course. You will complete three laps of this picturesque course before returning to the Clubhouse car park finish line.

At the start, once out of the carpark and on the road you will head down Taroona Ave towards the river and turn left onto Everard Drive. The course continues all the way along Everard Drive to the Mid-way Drinks Station at Everard and Pound, then turning right onto the Pound Bend Tank Track. The Tank Track is a short but challenging climb and decent, slightly rough under foot (extra care is required on this section) and it takes you through to the PV Depot at the end of Pound Bend Rd.  From here you will meander through interesting parkland where you will find the new Turnaround Drink Station, which is in a different place to last year.

Our new course leads onto beautiful Riverside Track and greatest care must be taken in this section. It is certainly a privilege for us to run this pathway so treat the bushland and native habitat with great respect.  Single file running is requested to allow faster runners to pass. Please stay on the tracks at all times.

The track emerges through the Pound Bend Picnic Ground where you will be guided through a series of gates, then up a steady climb on the Picnic Ground Road, back to the Mid-way Drinks Station. Grab a drink here because there is a short steep pinch along Pound Bend Road to Third St.  You run the full length of this character filled Warrandyte street and then turn left onto West End Rd and left back into Taroona Avenue.

As you re-enter Taroona Avenue, stay left for your first two laps and continue the course. You will lap this course 3 times in total, then take the finish in the Clubhouse car park after your third lap.

This 15km course is perfect training for events like the Puffing Billy run. If you felt comfortable with 2 laps of the hills last year then this is the one for you.

quintons IGA

Quinton’s IGA – 2.2km Run/Walk – 8.15am start

This option is open to all ages and suitable for those who are looking at walking a short course, getting back into running, for those who have just started running or even as a long sprint event. The Quinton’s IGA 2.2km course has been revised for 2018.

As with all of our events it begins at the Warrandyte Reserve on Taroona Avenue, turning out of the Elderly Citizens carpark and down Taroona Ave to the end.  You will then turn left into Everard Drive and follow it all the way to the end where there is a Midway Drink Station.  Turn left into Pound Road, up a short steep hill and turn left into Third Street. Take care on the steep hill section and stay left as there are faster runners joining you from the longer distance events.  The course continues along Third Street, turning left onto West End Rd and left into Taroona Ave.  Be careful to keep to the right through this section as lapping runners will be wanting to continue down Taroona Ave.  Make your final turn right into the Clubhouse car park finish line.  You complete one lap of this course.
